Today is World Vegetarian Day!

Hey everyone! Just a little reminder that today is World Vegetarian Day! Go out and hug a vegetarian if you can! Ha! In honor of the day, I thought I'd link back to a post I wrote last year about my decision to become vegetarian. I would like to point out that, though I think the spirit of the day is presented a little differently on the World Vegetarian Day website, I am in NO WAY trying to make everyone stop eating meat... I'm not on a crusade... there's no judgement of character going on here, just honesty and authenticity.

That said, I would love to hear your thoughts on why you choose (or choose not to) eat meat! So tell me... are you a carnivore?

  1. I originally chose not to eat meat because it scared me to ingest dead animals. I was seven.
From there, it grew to an honest disliking of the texture of meat, ESPECIALLY ground beef. Gag me.
My brother went through a vegan phase in college, and while I didn't have the guts to give up ALL animal products (I love cheese and honey), I was grateful to learn about factory farms and the harsh reality of the food industry. It only solidified my conviction, and I went from calling myself a "picky eater who doesn't like meat," (still pretty true) to an official vegetarian.
I'll still eat fish, sometimes, because it's hard for me to get the protein I need otherwise, but it is a CHORE (because I can't stand looking at it, not because I feel bad for the fish. It's a fish, haha).

And I got hugged yesterday! I'm not sure if it was because I'm vegetarian, but a hug is a hug. :)
